The Cross Sea Academy of Movement Education is a unique approach to Pilates Teacher Training.
The Academy is a collection of courses and workshops designed to support teachers of movement, Pilates, dance, Yoga, athletics, and more. Alone, they act as continuing education courses. Together, they become a comprehensive teacher training program.
Our courses increase anatomy literacy, value safer spaces, promote autonomy and respect individuality.
These courses are meant for collecting. As your collection grows, you’ll increase your understanding of the human body and how it moves through space, as well as how to hold space for moving bodies. You may be a new collector, starting out on your teaching journey, or an experienced guide with a wealth of knowledge looking to add to your already extensive library.
Our programming is flexible and accessible to do at your own pace.

More information about these courses coming soon...
Your guest lecturer for Foundation is Madeleine Shen Lopez, a movement educator, certified Axis Syllabus teacher and a Doctor of Chiropractic. Madeleine lives amongst the vast mountains of Patagonia, Argentina, where she dedicates her time to teaching movement, dancing, and helping people connect with and regain agency over their bodies.
Your guest lecturer for Fundamentals is Robin Lacambra (they/she), a queer Filipinx creative, speaker, and facilitator. Drawing from somatic relational psychotherapy, mindful movement, and conflict mediation, Robin’s work aims to demonstrate how interconnected we are, highlighting our shared responsibility to co-create a just and liberated world.
Your main course leader at the Academy is Robyn Breen, who's been a movement educator for over 18 years. Robyn started teaching dance while still in high school, before taking her first Pilates Teacher Training Course in 2007. She holds a BFA (Honours) in Dance from York University, and is a graduate of the School of Toronto Dance Theatre (now known as Dance Arts Institute).
Your guest lecturer for Flow is Lindsay Kinzinger, a Toronto based contemporary Pilates instructor, personal trainer and movement educator. Lindsay is always aiming to create an experience in which the student can explore a connection to themselves while practicing functional and challenging exercises in her classes. It is important to Lindsay to structure classes with thoughtful sequencing and a blend of movement modalities to leave her students feeling energized, strong and more in tune with their bodies.
"(Robyn's) balance of knowledge and rigour with humour and creativity challenge folks while putting them at ease. She makes people feel comfortable and welcome. The more I try to teach, and observe other teachers, the more I realize this is not just Robyn’s personality – it’s also the result of careful, intentional preparation. I’ve always valued the improvisatory element in teaching and struggled with the planning side, but I’m now seeing how thoughtful planning can really have a powerful effect on the atmosphere in the room."
