$81.00+HST for two 90 minute sessions (3 hours in total)

Fridays at 1:00pm Eastern Time Zone (2:30pm in Newfoundland)

April 17 and 24, 2026

Session 1: Bones and Soft Tissues - Receiving Weight and Propulsion.

We'll start by looking at the bones and soft tissues that make up the foot and ankle, but more importantly we will look at how they have evolved together functionally. Having evolved to be bipedal animals, we receive weight and push off from one foot to the other. There are many clues hidden in the anatomy of the ankle and foot as to how we can do this efficiently and sustainably. Sometimes subtle differences can make a world of difference - in pain experienced (or lack thereof!), as well as in the power of the entire lower limb.

Session 2: Integrating into the Leg and Beyond

We move on to look at how the foot and ankle connect into the kinetic chain of the leg, where we can get a sense of how studying the foot and ankle can affect how we move the whole body. There will also be time for questions and discussion!

*This Workshop for Teachers is open to folks with any amount of experience or who are currently enrolled in a relevant education program. Attendees should have a strong understanding of basic anatomy. (Check out Foundation for an in-depth anatomy refresher). Attendees can request a certificate of completion if they are using this workshop towards CECs. 100% live attendance is required to receive a certificate.

Workshops will be recorded, and available for replay one week after each session.

This workshop is taught by Madeleine Shen Lopez, a movement educator, certified Axis Syllabus teacher and Doctor of Chiropractic based in Patagonia, Argentina. She spends most of her time being a mom, as well as teaching movement, dancing, and helping people connect with and regain agency over their bodies.
